Simulation of a complete triple turbo molecular pumping stage using direct simulation Monte Carlo in 3D


PI-DSMC was used to determine the compression and the pumping speed in a triple turbo pumping stage. This simulation uses a 3D geometry of the rotor and the stator without any geometrical simplifications. The rotation of the rotor is taken into account of course.
The obtained results for compression and pumping speed show the expected trends. With these simulations it is also possible to study the flow field in detail which might help to create new ideas for improved designs.
